Boost Your Winter Harvest

ON LINE and IN PERSON Winter Gardening Classes

 Jefferson County WSU Extension Master Gardeners and Food Bank Growers are organizing two events designed to boost the produce harvested from home and community gardens this winter. Register now for either event or both.

Master Gardeners Lys Burden and Nita Wester will outline the cultivation practices that make harvesting produce from your garden — November through March — more likely. Soil preparation; appropriate vegetable varieties; what can still be planted, plant spacing; frost, wind, rain, snow protection; watering will be covered.

In-Person Panel at the Quimper Grange, 1219 Corona Ave, Port Townsend

6:00 - 7:30pm 


Local gardeners who have been successful growing, storing and harvesting produce during winter months will share their systems and take your questions,from growing carrots in pots, row covers, hoop houses, additional lighting to harvesting cover crops for food, a variety of possibilities for increasing harvests from home gardens to small-scale production gardens will be reviewed. A tour of winter plantings at the Quimper Grange Food Bank Garden is included.


Please Note:  Attendance is limited to space available. The Quimper Grange Hall requires those attending to show proof of vaccination including one booster.
