FairWinds Food Bank Garden gains a NEW Tool Shed

Thank you Community Boat Project!

9-20-24

Does a tool shed get any cuter than this?!?  Note those two sky lights (corrugated plastic roofing) that allow us to see what we're doing without needing electricity. Having wood studs and walls means we can create more shelves and racks on the inside for tools and storage.  (Plastic tool sheds may be cheaper, but they are far less useful in that regard.) And check out the sea-based motifs to go along with FairWind's Farm's motto of "Fair Winds and Following Seas".  The color scheme also coordinates with the current farm buildings for a functional and beautiful addition to the farm.

It will be so nice to have a weather proof structure as we head into winter as soon the FairWind's site will live up to it's other name -- SidewayWinds -- and having a place to duck into out of the rain and wind will be greatly appreciated.

Jon Piskula was the mover and his company is Anywhere Storage helped with the drop off.  Students signed their "work" after it was in its final resting spot:

The Community Boat Project makes these buildings for the cost of materials as they are a way for students to apply their skills while they are learning. Contact them directly if you have questions.

Jon did an amazing job getting it to fit through the gate was a 2 inch clearance on each side challenge.

Milly Lierman (left) and Gayle Petrick (right) are FairWind's Food Bank Garden Manager's providing scale and also showing off the art on the inside of the doors as well as the multi-colored table. Note again how bright it is on the inside thanks to those plastic roof panels -- just saying in case you now have shed envy and want to build your own.

Thanks again to the Community Boat Project and those (Dianna, Bear, Gayle, Milly, Keith...) who helped to nudge this into place.
