The event was very well attended with a LOT of interest about what we were doing, and why. Many people were not aware that our group (Food Bank Growers) is a separate organization and not an arm of the Jefferson County Food Banks.
We sold over half of our plants and will be giving the rest out to our gardens to grow out. We also sold out of the pre-assembled Low Tunnel Kits. Thank you Lisa P. for the idea, and to Noreen for her help in assembling extra kits on the spot. A kit included 15’ of AgriBon 30, 3-#10 gauge wire hoops, and 11 clothespins. As part of the winter growing community the new Low Tunnel Kit owners will receive tips on how to produce food even in February and March.
Seven people pledged to Grow a Row for the Food Banks and many more people were excited about trying it for themselves. A Swan School teacher who is just starting her soils science project, bought all the remaining Family Science Kits, and wants a bunch more start for the school. A new PT resident, Cleo Pirtle, is a retired soils science teach, and wants to help our group with how to improve our soils!
So many great new connections made for a good fund and friend raiser.
Many thanks to the entire team: Birch, Sophie, Mark, Mary P, Mary H, Mary Beth, Noreen, Lisa, Arlene, Morgana, Ralph, Ellen, JJ, Lys, Kathy, Emmy Lou, and everyone else who made this such a success.
