Five FBG gardens turned out for the spring Tool Maintenance Clinic. We all learned a lot about which sharpeners work the best on which tool, the benefits of a good brushing to get the large surface rust off, and how a touch of oil or WD-40 puts a spring in the springs and a slippery surface back on the shovels.
Thank you Mark Paxton for supplying items, technique, and knowledge about the how-tos and Barbara Tusting for setting things in motion. We are all now trained to become helpers at the next Public Tool Maintenance Clinic. (just kidding, sort of...)
Seriously, this is why we share these experiences so each one, can teach one. We are, for the most part, the "grandparents" who taught us early on and now it's our turn to teach each other and the next generation of gardeners.
If you have a skill that you can share or like to write about other people's skills, let us know or tell your Garden Manager and let's sharpen all our gardening abilities.
