Easy Seed Storage

Save seeds in a dark, dry, cool, rodent proof, and organized box.

Seed storage is a lot like our sock drawers, we start off with good intentions and within a few months we can't find anything.

Most of us just jam packets in a bag andmaybetuck them in a cool closet in winter. At best they'll be cool and dry, but still a mess to find anything come next spring. Seeds are expensive unless you're getting them from theFBG Seed Library or the WSU library. Even if they are free, however, they quickly end up in a big pile that requires endless hours sifting them all for that one pack of beans that you KNOW you have...

Enter the Photo storage box, turned seed vault. The box (on Amazon) can store up to 1800 photos (100 per box) and comes in clear plastic as well, but you want the dark one if possible. The 16 boxes inside can be broken into family plant groups. The best part, when the packages pop open (and they always do) the seeds end up inside the box and not stuck in your carpet.

Seeds will be viable for 4 years or more if you're careful with the storage and keep them from becoming munchables for mice.
